Lord is a person cause he described as sac-cid-ananda-vigraha by scripture who is eternally joyful by all sense the Supreme personality of Godhead.

Living entity is minute particle of superior spiritual energy of lord therefore have tendency to enjoy but unfortunately tries to satisfy by material nature.(ex fish on land)

Where loving service relationship with
supreme is compare as an ocean of joy.
A sane man should be ambitious to find the real happiness. 
Material world is described as being full of miseries.(BG.8.16) as we been in illusion we try to satisfy our senses by material things.

When we desire for sense gratification we remain disturbed, we can attain peace only by serving the lord because by nature we are all eternal servants of the supreme one.

People in today's time want to enjoy  all money here in india money is represents as goddesses of fortune mother laxmi, where she is considered wife of lord naryana the supreme one  prabhupad notes some analogy here that,The living being cannot enjoy the goddess of fortune without serving Narayana because the position of mother laxmi is to serve lord Narayana.

The Eternal Benefits OF Ekadashi
